Create A Hair Bow Fast And Economical

Hair bows are great accessories for little girls.

There are many adorable fashions that can be purchased for little girls. A matching hair bow can make an outfit even cuter. Parents of little girls will notice, however, that purchasing matching hair bows can be expensive. By taking the time to make hair bows yourself, you can save a lot of money, which you can then use to purchase more clothing. One of the least expensive bows to make is a korker bow. The grosgrain ribbon used to make korker bows is inexpensive and comes in a variety of colors. In addition, it takes less than 45 minutes to make a hair bow.

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees. Line the cookie sheet with aluminum foil.

2. Use a clothespin to clip one one end of the grosgrain ribbon to the end of the dowel. Wrap the ribbon around the entire dowel until you reach the opposite end. Cut the ribbon, and secure the other end of the ribbon to the end of the dowel with the second clothespin. Wrapping a 16 inch dowel from top to bottom with ribbon will provide you with enough material to make one bow.

3. Place the dowel on the cookie sheet, and bake for 20 minutes. Don't worry -- neither the ribbon nor the dowel will burn. After 20 minutes, gently slide the ribbon off the dowel.

4. Cut the ribbon into 3-inch pieces. Stack the pieces, one on top of another, holding them securely in the middle as you go. Using the thread, tie a knot around the middle of all pieces of ribbon to secure them. Fluff the ribbon pieces out as necessary to make the bow equally full on both sides.

5. Place a drop of hot glue onto the barrette or alligator clip, and press the middle of the bow onto it until dry.
