Make Minnie Mouse Ears

Ready your red ribbon and black card stock to make Minnie ears at home.

Show off your love for The Mouse with a pair of homemade Minnie Mouse ears for yourself or your child. These ears are convenient to make, so you can churn out enough for a birthday party full of kids for a fraction of the cost of licensed Disney headgear. Common craft and office supplies will suffice for the project, and the kids can lend a hand.

Instructions

1. Measure the circumference of your child's head with the measuring tape.

2. Cut a 3-inch wide strip of card stock so it is 2 inches longer than the circumference of your child's head.

3. Wrap the card stock headband around your child's head snugly. Hold the overlapping ends in place with your hand, lift the circlet from your child's head, and staple the ends together with the stapler.

4. Draw two identical 4-inch circles on black card stock with the compass and pencil. Cut the circles out using the scissors.

5. Cut out two 3-inch-by-1 1/2-inch rectangles from the card stock with scissors. Hot glue half the length of one rectangle at the 5 o'clock position on each circle, leaving the other half extending as a tab beyond the edge of the circle. Allow glue to dry fully (about 15 minutes).

6. Cut a 6-inch length of ribbon with scissors. Tie the ribbon segment into a bow.

7. Attach ears to headband, one on either side, by hot gluing the tabs to the headband circlet. Hold in place and allow to dry.

8. Glue a red bow to the front of the headband in the center.
