Give your little explorer a map to fun with these Dora-themed birthday party ideas.
If you have a Dora fan in your household, throw her a birthday party she is sure to love. Use these ideas for a Dora-themed party and your little explorer will find a birthday adventure waiting for her. Use the cultural references and recurring characters from "Dora the Explorer" to host a one-of-a-kind Dora-themed birthday party for your child.
Follow the Map
For a birthday party activity, give the little explorers in attendance a task to complete. Split the children into small groups and give them a map listing three spots at your party location. They must travel to each spot, one by one, and solve some sort of problem or puzzle when they arrive. You could ask them to solve a riddle, put shapes into a pattern or even sing a song at each location. When they reach the end of their maps they can earn a party favor, such as an explorer's hat or a flower bracelet like Dora wears.
Party Favor Bags
Use small purple backpacks as your party favor bags. If you cannot find backpacks for a reasonable price, purple tote bags would work in a pinch. Use printable iron-on transfers or fabric paints to print a face onto each bag and present them to the children when they enter the party. As they participate in party activities, they can keep all of their goodies safely tucked away in their explorer's bags.
Snacks
Dora's television show introduces children to Latino culture. Bring this culture into the party when you serve foods with a Latin flavor. Make miniature churros for a sweet snack or chips and mild salsa for a salty treat. Serve tacos or burritos for lunch and give the children mini sombrero gummy candies as a take-home snack. Decorate the cake like a map, using miniature Dora and Boots figurines on top.
Backpack Game
Incorporate Dora's backpack song into a party game. According to Amazing Moms, fill a purple backpack with small prizes for the children, such as bouncy balls, stickers, bubbles or hair bows. Have the children sit in a circle and pass the backpack around. Each child must reach her hand inside the backpack without looking and select an item. Before she removes the item from the backpack, she must guess what it is. If she guesses right, she keeps the prize. If she guesses wrong, she passes the backpack along and gets another turn later. Children can sing the backpack song from the television show as they play the game.
