Use your hair ties for more than just ponytails.
Hair ties can do much more than just hold your hair back into a ponytail. You can use your old, stretched out hair ties--or purchase new ones, if you prefer--to make a variety of crafts. Your hair ties can be used to help organize your hair accessories, keep dance shoes together, and can even create a new hair look.
Hair Tie Organizer
Use your old hair ties as a way to organize your hair tie accessories. Tie hair ribbons into a knot onto one hair tie, slide bobby pins through another, you can even clip your barrettes to the hair tie, as well. Slide a ribbon through all of the hair ties, and tie it into a knot at the very top of the ribbon. Hang the ribbon on your bathroom door or cabinet knobs to keep your hair ties in place.
Dance Shoe Shoelace
Use hair ties embellished with plastic balls as a way to keep dance shoes together. Dance shoes have one strap that go across the bridge of the foot and tie together by one, small shoelace. Instead of a shoelace, use the hair tie balls to keep the strap together. Slide the hair tie through both of the strap's eyelets--the "ball" will keep the hair tie from slipping through the eyelet. Pull the hair over the top of the strap and slide it over the ball to keep the tie in place. This will not only keep the shoes on for a perfect fit, but it will also add some color to the shoes, as well.
Hair Tie Headband
Use your old hair ties to make an easy headband. Choose any kind of ribbon as the headband--place it around your head and cut it so that it is reaches just beyond your ears. Interlace two hair ties together to form a two-looped knot. Sew the very end of one of the ribbon ends around one of the hair tie loops. Sew the other ribbon end around the second hair tie loop.
