Korker Ribbon For Hair Bows

Curl some ribbon to make adorable hair accessories

Make a collection of korker ribbons in every color of the rainbow to match every outfit in your child's closet, or make them to wear yourself to show off the child within. These whimsical hair bows make great gifts for fashion- and beauty-loving little girls. You can use solid colored ribbons for the hair accessories, make the hair bows from a variety of contrasting patterned ribbons or embellish the curly ribbons with imitation gemstones.

Instructions

1. Cut pieces of ribbon for the hair bow. Cut 40 pieces of ribbon, each to about 16 inches long.

2. Coil one ribbon around a 1/4-inch-wide wooden dowel. Secure the top and bottom of the ribbon to the dowel with heat-resistant clothespins. Repeat the step to wrap the remainder of the ribbons around the 1/4-inch wooden dowels.

3. Place all of the dowels on a baking sheet and bake the ribbons in the oven at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 to 30 minutes. Take the baking sheets out of the oven and let the ribbons cool completely.

4. Unclip each of the clothespins and remove each ribbon from the dowels.

5. Gather the ribbons together in one hand and pin the center of the ribbons together. Wrap a piece of elastic around the pinched center and tie the elastic in a tight knot. Pull tightly on the elastic as you tie and allow the korker ribbons to fan out. Wrap the elastic ends around the center and tie in another tight knot.

6. Attach the korker ribbons to the hair clip or barrette. Spread a thick layer of glue on the top of the clip or barrette and press the bunch of ribbons firmly against the glue. Smooth out to cover the top of the clip.
