Making your own hair accessories such as bows and barrettes is a way to relax while enjoying a quality craft that exudes your personal style. If you are interested in making a funky hair accessory, why not try a balloon hair bow? These stylish bows make an excellent craft project for kids and adults alike and can be customized to fit any color theme. Try out designs in your favorite colors or try a special design such as one featuring the colors of your favorite sports team.
Instructions
1. Remove the metal clasp from the underside of the barrette. On most barrettes this is accomplished by wiggling the connected end around gently until it pops out. Be careful not to break the clasp as it will be reattached later.
2. Lay your balloons out on a tabletop or on the floor and arrange them into your desired color setup. Lay the chosen balloons in a straight line, alternating their direction; one balloon should face upright while the one next to it should face downward, and so on.
3. Tie the balloons directly onto the top of the metal barrette. This part gets a little tricky, so take your time and make sure each balloon is tied flush against the next. Continue tying the balloons onto the barrette until it is completely full of balloons facing in both directions.
4. Snap the metal clasp back onto the barrette so your bow has a securing device. Add additional accessories to the bow if desired. A few examples include: glitter, beads and tiny plastic accessories such as snowflakes for the holidays.
