Use bright neon colors for a funky hair bow.
Create some brightly colored, funky hair bows from a few pieces of double ruffle ribbon. The bright colored ribbon, such as neon orange, vivid purple and lime green together in the layered bow make for a flamboyant hair accessory and the short pieces of ruffled ribbon give the hair bow a spiky appearance. Make a bow that coordinates with a variety of outfits by toning down the color scale a bit or rev it up even more with unconventional patterned ribbons.
Instructions
1. Cut the double ruffle ribbon for the bow. Cut five pieces of each color and make each piece about 4 inches long.
2. Seal the ends of each piece of ribbon with a fray stop treatment to keep the ends from unraveling.
3. Find the middle of one piece of green ribbon and fold it in half lengthwise. Fold a piece of purple ribbon in half lengthwise and place it on an angle on top of the first. Sew a stitch through the two pieces of ribbon to join them together.
4. Fold a piece of the orange ribbon in half lengthwise and place it on an angle on top of the two ribbons. Sew a stitch to join the ribbons. Repeat the step, alternating between the colors, until you have added each piece.
5. Sew a stitch down to the bottom of the bow and sew a few stitches in the bottom to keep the layers attached.
6. Spread glue on the bottom of the bow and press it firmly against the hair clip.
