Make Sparkle Bows For Any Baby

Make sparkly hair bows in ,amyy colors to match every outfit.

You can make sparkly hair bows for your baby with just a few pieces of ribbon and the hair clip of your choice. Use a fabric hair clip for a very young baby for a soft hair accessory and use metal or plastic hair clips for older babies for a hair clip that will stay put all day long. Make a simple hair clip in the shape of a bow or make a flamboyant little hair accessory, filled with curly and sparkly ribbons.

Instructions

Curly Sparkle Hair Bows

1. Cut 20 pieces of 1/4 inch wide sparkly ribbon to a length of eight inches each.

2. Attach the end of one of the ribbons to the top of a 1/4 inch wide wooden dowel with a binder clip. Wrap the ribbon around the length of the dowel and add another clip at the other end of the ribbon to keep the ribbon in place. Do the same with the remaining pieces of ribbon.

3. Place the ribbon-covered dowels on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the ribbons cool to room temperature.

4. Remove the binder clips from each of the dowels and pull the ribbons off the dowels gently.

5. Place the curly ribbons side by side on a flat surface. Wrap a piece of thread around the center of the bundle and tie it in a tight knot. Fan out the ribbons to make a circle of curly ribbons.

6. Apply glue from the hot glue gun to the top of hair clip. Apply a little extra glue to the center of the ribbon circle and press the center to the hair clip.

7. Measure the length of the plastic or fabric hair clip. Cut a piece of 1/2 inch wide sparkly ribbon to this length plus 1/2 inch.

8. Fold over 1/4 inch of fabric at each end of the ribbon and sew the fold in place to make smooth edges for the hair bow.

9. Apply a line of glue from a hot glue gun to the top of the hair clip. Press the wrong side of the ribbon firmly along the length of the hair clip. Press firmly for 20 to 30 seconds and then let the glue dry for 10 minutes.

10. Cut a six-inch long piece of the same 1/2 inch wide sparkly ribbon. Cut the ends of the ribbon on a slight angle. Paint the ends of the ribbon with a fray stopping treatment. Tie the ribbon into a bow with even loops on each side.

11. Apply glue from the glue gun to the back center of the ribbon and press it in the center of the ribbon-covered hair clip. Hold the pieces together for 20 to 30 seconds. You can sew a few stitches to keep the bow secured to the ribbon on the hair clip if you would like.
