Hair bows aren't just for little girls anymore.
Trying out new looks when you are a teen is as easy as using a trendy hair accessory such as a hair bow. Although hair bows are often associated with babies and little girls, teen girls are learning wear hair bows to complement and express their personal style. If you want to make a fashion statement at school and maybe even get that cute guy to notice you, wear a hair bow. Using ribbon in a pattern and color that matches your sense of style, its easy to make these pretty hair accessories .
Instructions
1. Cut a strip of grosgrain ribbon that is about 6 inches long and 2 inches wide. Apply liquid seam sealant to the ends of the ribbon to prevent fraying.
2. Set the ribbon flat on the table with the wrong side of the fabric facing down.
3. Fold the ribbon in half lengthwise and make a crease. This crease is the inside center of your bow that is not visible when its finished.
4. Set the hot glue gun to low heat. Dab a thin strip of hot glue down the length of the crease.
5. Glue the right end of the ribbon to the center of the bow to make a loop.
6. Dab a thin strip of hot glue once again in the center of the bow, this time alongside the end of the first loop.
7. Bring the left end of the ribbon to the center of the bow to make the second loop.
8. Dab a small amount of hot glue in the center of the bow where the ends of the loops meet.
9. Fold the bow in half lengthwise so your fingers are pinching the center of the bow. Maintain this position and apply pressure for a few seconds so the glue dries.
10. Cut a narrow strip of ribbon that measures about 1 inch in width for the center of the bow. Glue the strip to the center of the bow. Let the hot glue dry. Fluff out the loops of the bow.
11. Set the hot glue gun to a high setting. Glue your bow to a barrette or a hair clip.
