Tulle is a lightweight, netted fabric. It comes in different colors, but is most often found in white. Tulle can also be very soft to very stiff for different purposes. Using tulle is an inexpensive way to beautify your wedding. Tulle bows on the end of a pew or aisle are quick and easy to make and can add delicacy and romance to any space. You may wish to leave the bows as is or connect them to each other with long swags of tulle.
Instructions
1. Determine how large you want the diameter of your bows to be. For example, 8-inch bows will require 3 yards of tulle; 12-inch bows will require 4 yards; and 16-inch bows needs 5 yards. For all size bows, you will need 1/2-yard of tulle per bow for the tail. If you would also like to make connecting pieces between pews, you will need additional tulle.
2. On your cardboard measure out the length you have chosen (8, 12, or 16 inches) and mark it.
3. Lay out your piece of tulle along your first mark. Pin the cut end in both corners. Fold the tulle over at the end of your measurement and pin both corners.
4. Fold the tulle back and forth, pinning after each fold to keep the tulle in place. You should do at least 5 folds, or more if you want the bow to be fuller. Keep in mind if you do additional folds you will need more tulle. Cut the tulle when you have the number of folds you want.
5. Cut a 3-foot piece of tulle. Slide it under your the center of your folded tulle. Tie a square knot.
6. Unpin the tulle and fluff your bow by pulling the folds up or down. You can stick your hand in the loops to fluff them up more.
7. Hang the bows on the pew with more tulle or pipe cleaners. Be sure to check with your location before using tape, or any other product that could harm the pew.
