Show your team spirit with these fun matching hair ties.
Promoting team spirit is important for sports teams and one way to provide an atmosphere of unity is to having matching uniforms. Even if the third-grade softball team's uniform is no more complicated than matching t-shirts, adding matching hair ties can make each team member feel like a contributor. This craft is easy enough that girls can make the hair ties themselves. Or, create each hair tie with a team member's name on it and give them as gifts for joining the team.
Instructions
1. Cut the ribbon into strips about 12" long and cut V's into each end to make them look a little fancier. Take a length of the thinner ribbon and glue it all along the length of a strand of the thicker ribbon for a layered look. Use the hot glue sparingly so it does not wrinkle the ribbon or ooze out the sides.
2. Write an uplifting team motto or cheer onto the ribbon in puff paint. Be sure the whole phrase will fit on the ribbon before you begin writing so that the letter size is uniform. Make a prototype out of regular paper if you need a guideline before trying it on a real ribbon. Write each team member's name on one ribbon if you want to give each girl an individual ribbon. Otherwise, just write "Go Ravens!" or "Ladybugs are #1" on each. Allow paint to dry.
3. Glue the ribbon onto one of the plain hair ties, but only along about 3/4 of an inch of the tie. This way, the team can use the hair tie portion as a regular hair tie to keep her ponytail in place and then tie a bow out of the ribbon portion or let it hang down however she wants.
