Make A Baby Headband

Make a headband for your baby.

Make fashionable infant head wear for every occasion by designing each bow and headband from a variety of fabrics. You can make headbands of knit, ribbon or stretchy lace. Make a variety of looks for an infant girl by using loopy bows made with grosgrain, organza or lace. Choose monochromatic or assorted colors and in different sizes.

Instructions

1. Measure the wider ribbon (1 1/2 inches wide) by wrapping the fabric around the infant's head. Cut the ribbon so it fits her head snugly. Slightly overlap the ends and use the needle and thread to secure the overlapped ends together.

2. Design a loopy bow by layering the 3/4-inch ribbon while it's still on the spool. Your layers should be 2 1/2 to 3 inches long. Make three of four ribbon layers to create the loopy bow. Cut the ribbon once the bow is made. Sew the ribbon together in the middle with a simple stitch to hold its shape.

3. Pierce the bow with a needle threaded with a long length of double-knotted thread. Attach the ribbon slightly off-center to the headband.
