Make Wedding Bows Yourself, In Minutes
Wedding bows can add a nice touch to your wedding. You can use bows for the pews, table decor, wreaths, candle stands or flower stands. Buying bows though will just add to your ever-growing expenses. You can make professional-looking bows yourself using tulle, one of the easiest materials to manipulate.
Instructions
1. Gather your supplies to work on a flat surface. Make sure to use tulle in a spool, because it is easier to manipulate. Unwrap the spool of tulle and pull out 3 feet. Lay flat and do not cut.
2. Mark the halfway point of the tulle you've pulled out. With your left thumb, hold the tulle closest to the spool. This is to secure the area where you are going to make the loops.
3. Slowly unwrap the tulle for your wedding bows, off the roll, folding back and forth from the midway point to your thumb. Make 4 trips back and forth from the midway line to your thumb. If you want a fluffier bow, make 6 trips.
4. Stack the tulle you've folded neatly, still holding your thumb on the tulle. The stack is the loops for the bow. You should still have a foot and a half with nothing on top for the first tail.
5. Roll out the top fold a foot and a half farther. This is to make the second tail of the bow. Cut the tulle at the spool. Place the spool to the side, because you are finished with it for the first bow.
6. Place the pipe cleaner straight across the stack of tulle in the middle. Use a pipe cleaner the same color as the tulle. Once in place, use one hand to squeeze the stack of tulle toward the middle of the pipe cleaner. Twist the cleaner tightly several times, securing the bow.
7. Fluff your bow out. When you make wedding bows of tulle, you should not be able to tell where one side starts or stops. Your bow is now ready to hang on your chosen wedding decor.
