Repair Damaged Hair

Broken hair

There is no way to repair broken hair. Hair that has been exposed to hair dyes, hair sprays, harsh chemicals and heat tools, becomes thin on the ends, resulting in the ends splitting. The only way to repair broken hair, is to cut it off just above the split end and conditioning it often to prevent breakage in the future.

Instructions

1. Stop teasing your hair. Back combing causes knots in the hair and no matter how carefully you try to brush it, it breaks and thins hair. Teasing, even on occasion, will dry, split the ends and break your hair.

2. Get a hair cut often, if only to have the ends trimmed. This will strengthen the hair and stop thin ends from progressing any further. Cutting your hair in a blunt cut--either a long or short style--will prevent ends from thinning and breaking.

3. Shampoo your hair daily. Check the ingredients in your shampoo to make sure they do not contain alcohol. Alcohol in any hair product should be eliminated as it dries the hair.

4. Use a wide-toothed comb on your wet hair instead of a brush. Add a ''leave-in'' conditioner to your hair prior to styling. Keep your hair moist by conditioning it weekly. Moist hair does not dry, split or break.

5. Visit a hair salon a few times a year for a deep conditioning treatment. If you cannot afford the visit, buy the products at the beauty salon and do it yourself.

6. Cutting down on harsh chemicals, rough brushes and heat tools will keep your hair soft and pliable with a healthy shine. This, in turn, will forever eliminate split ends and hair breakage.
