Make Straight Hair Wavy In half an hour

Wavy hair is a versatile style with a lot of movement.

Wavy hair is easy, sexy, fun and seemingly fuss-free, but many of us were born with stick-straight hair that sometimes can't hold a curl. There are ways to create natural-looking waves whether they are long, large and loose, or small, tight and crimped, using hair products and tools that you probably already have in your home. All you need is at least medium-length hair, these products and tools and 30 minutes of your time.

Instructions

Braiding

1. One single braid is just enough to bring out a little natural wave in hair.

Braid hair when it's damp (50 percent dry). If you want the waves to be smaller and tighter, make several small braids all over your head. If you want larger, looser waves, make fewer, but larger, braids.

2. Blow dry your hair with a hair dryer set on a low heat setting until it's fully dry.

3. Undo the braids and tousle with your fingers. For extra hold, mist with styling spray.

Using a Large Barrel Curling Iron

4. Unless you want ringlets like this instead of wavy hair, don't hold your hair in the curling iron for very long or hold it too tight.

Start with fully dried hair. Divide your hair eight equal and symmetrical sections.

5. One at a time, wrap each section of hair loosely around the barrel of the curling iron. As you work your way through, alternate the direction that you are curling each section of hair.

6. Flip your head over upside down for 20 seconds to allow hair to cool. Flip back over and mist with styling spray.

Scrunching with Hair Products

7. Scrunching hair creates smaller, tighter waves.

When hair is 70 percent dry, squirt half of a handful of hair mousse into your palm.

8. Use both hands to evenly distribute throughout hair.

9. With head flipped over upside down, scrunch hair with fingers.

10. Use a hair dryer on a low heat setting to dry hair and set waves.

11. Mist with a styling spray.

Loose Bun

12. Allowing hair to dry while in a loose bun creates loose, minimal waves.

Tie up hair in a loose bun when it's damp (80 percent dry).

13. Allow hair to air dry or give it a few blasts with a blow-dryer on the higher heat setting.

14. Unwind hair for loose waves.

15. Mist with styling spray.
