The belted jacket is a classic fashion trend that every woman - short and tall - can take advantage of. The challenge for petite women when wearing a belt over a jacket is place the belt so that it does not create a shorter waist. Wearing the belt slightly higher than the waist, such as just under the chest, can create an elongated torso. Pair the belted jacket with long, flared pants and heels to create a taller appearance.
Instructions
1. Stand up straight when determining where to tie the belt. If you hunch over when tying the belt, you may wrinkle the jacket in the back.
2. Find where to tie the belt by wrapping it two inches below your chest. Because the belt is placed higher than your waist, you may have to make another hole in it or tie it tighter to accommodate the smaller area.
3. Secure the belt by tying it in a knot, pinning it with a brooch or looping it through the existing belt buckle.
4. Wear long, flared pants and heels for a more professional appearance. Skinny jeans and flats can be paired with a belted jacket to give a casual image.
