Making hair bows is creative and easy.
Wearing a hair bow can add femininity to an outfit, even casual ones like jeans. It can easily be made from cloth ribbon. The bow can be attached to a clip or tied directly onto a ponytail, French twist or other pulled-back hairstyles. Bows can also be glued onto barettes. Wide bows are difficult to tie, so it is best to use ribbon that is 1- to 2-inches wide.
Instructions
1. Measure then cut an 18- to 24-inch length of ribbon.
2. Make a diagonal cut or an inverted "V" cut on both ends of the ribbon.
3. Brush hair into a ponytail and secure it with a stretchy hair band.
4. Hold the ends of the ribbon with one end in each hand. Come from underneath the ponytail with the ribbon so the two strands of the ribbon are perpendicular to the floor. The newly cut ends are pointing to the ceiling.
5. Tie the strands together tightly against the ponytail.
6. Make a loop shape with the left ribbon strand, pinching it between the thumb and index finger of the left hand.
7. Wrap the right side of the ribbon around the base of the loop-shaped piece, as if tying shoelaces.
8. Push this strand through the wrapped section and form a second loop, pulling it until it is as long as the first loop. Make the base tighter as you pull it.
9. Pull on the loops carefully to make them even and secured.
