Put Laces and ribbons Inside Your Ponytail

Use different colored ribbons to create an individual look.

Ponytail ribbons, or ribbon streamers, are a great way to decorate your hair and create a stylish look. They can also be used to celebrate special occasions, such as Independence Day, Christmas, Easter, birthdays or weddings. You can create a personalized ponytail accessory by selecting different colored, textured and sized ribbons to match a special outfit. All supplies needed to complete this tutorial can be purchased online, or from a local haberdashery store.

1. Put hair in a ponytail to measure its exact length.

Pull hair back into a ponytail and secure with a hairband. Measure the length of the ponytail from the hairband down to the end of the hair. Lay the ribbon flat on the ground, measure and cut a length that is twice as long as your ponytail length. Repeat this process for every two pieces of ribbon you would like to have in your hair. If you want 10 ribbons you should cut 5 pieces.

2. Any type of elasticated hairband can be used to make a ribbon streamer.

Lay the hairband flat onto your workspace. Organize the ribbons so that they each neatly start and end at the same place and lay on top of the hairband, making sure that the hairband is touching the middle section of the ribbons.

3. Be careful when using the glue.

Cut a piece of ribbon 2 inches in length. Wrap the ribbon around the ribbons and the hairband, carefully secure with a drop of superglue. Leave to air dry for two minutes.

4. Use a thin thread to keep it neat and tidy.

Thread the needle, and run three to four stitches through the ribbons and the hairband to make it more secure.

5. Scrape the hair back and secure with the ribbon ponytail. Adjust the hairband to get the ribbons hanging correctly in the ponytail.

6. For a more formal and groomed look, take a piece of hair and wrap it around the hairband, secure underneath with a small and discreet hair crip.
