Choose different ribbons for your hair bow to compliment any outfit.
Hair bows not only offer a little but of color and fun to any hairstyle or outfit, but they also help to hide the hair pin or ponytail holder that you have in your hair. Although you can simply tie a ribbon around your ponytail holder, there's a good chance that it will end up sliding over the holder and down your ponytail before the day is half gone. Instead, you can make a quick hair bow that will stay perfectly in your hair all day long.
Instructions
1. Purchase ribbon from any arts and crafts store. You don't want to get ribbon that's too wide, but you don't necessarily want very thin ribbon either, as it won't cover the ponytail holder. Select ribbon that's between 1 and 2 inches in width.
2. Cut your ribbon so it's 30 inches long.
3. Thread the ribbon through the ponytail holder. Slide the ponytail holder into the middle of the ribbon.
4. Tie the ribbon into a knot so it's secure on the ponytail holder.
5. Add a very thin strip of hot glue around a little more than half of the ponytail holder, on either side of the ribbon knot. Press the right ribbon tail to the strip of glue on the right side of the knot, and press the left ribbon tail to the glue on the left side of the knot. This will cover over half of the ponytail hold in the ribbon, disguising the holder, but still allowing the holder to keep some of its elasticity.
6. Allow the glue to dry completely -- about 30 minutes -- before using.
7. Put your hair into a ponytail or pigtails with the exposed ponytail holder facing up.
8. Tie the unglued ribbon tails into a bow. The bow will cover exposed ponytail holder, and the glued ribbon will cover the rest of the ponytail holder. The ribbon will stay in place without sliding off.
