Making your own practice mats at home will allow you to spend extra time on your cheerleading skills.
Tumbling and acrobatics are mainstays in the sport of cheerleading. Participants spend several hours learning maneuver their bodies to flip multiple times without crashing to the mat. Having mats at your home will allow you to continue practicing on your own. Although cheerleading mats are expensive to purchase, you can make your own using products found at your average superstore. With your own set of practice mats, you will be able to master the techniques needed to become an acrobatic cheerleader.
Instructions
1. Purchase sets of puzzle mats from a local store. Puzzle mats are available in sections that fit together along the edges. You can buy mats that come in specific colors if you want them to match your school colors.
2. Press the mats together to fit within the training area of your home. Lay the mats on the ground and bring the edges together. You will know that they are secure when you hear the "snap" sound along the edges.
3. Tape the connected edges of the puzzle mats together using adhesive tape. Smooth out the tape as you place it down to make sure it stays attached to the mats.
4. Test out the mat to make sure that it does not separate during use. If you notice the mat pulling apart, add more tape where needed.
