Twist & Shape Balloons

Balloons can be purchased in a variety of colors and shapes.

Learning twist and shape balloons or balloon modeling can be an enjoyable activity for the whole family. Balloon modeling can also used as a form of entertainment at events, such as children's birthday parties and school carnivals. To make these balloon models, you should use 260 balloons, which are a type of balloon that is long and slim in shape. These should not be fully inflated when used for balloon modeling.

Instructions

1. Make a balloon model of a dog by taking a single 260 inflated balloon and folding the knotted end back over itself. The folded section should measure around 6 inches. Squeeze the balloon 2 inches from the fold on both sections and gently twist the balloon two or three times to hold it in place. This loop is the ears of the dog with the end of the balloon as the nose. Measure 1 inch from the twist for the dog's neck and proceed to make another loop for the front legs. Measure 2 inches from this loop and form a final loop for the back legs. The remaining length of balloon is the dog's tail.

2. Create a balloon model of a swan with a single 260 balloon by bending it into a circle, overlapping the ends of the balloon by 7 inches with the knot on the inside. Bring the opposite side of the circle to meet the knot, making three layers. Twist all three layers together. Make the twist as close to the knot as possible. You should now have two loops and a long section of balloon with the tail all linked by the single twist. Splay the loops out to form a figure of eight. Squash one loop to create a fold midway along it. Bring the bent loop under and up through the second loop to form the body. of the swan. Make a fold in the tail end of the balloon and squeeze the folded area to push air toward the tail end, or what will now form the beak. This will allow the balloon to curl to form the head of the swan.

3. Make a balloon sword by measuring 6 inches from the knot and folding the balloon over on itself. Measure 2 inches from the fold and twist the balloon to form a loop. Measure another 6 inches down the balloon and fold. Make another twist and you have now formed the sword, with the knotted end forming the handle.
