Creating any sailor scout costume can be a difficult and time-consuming process and Sailor Jupiter's costume is no exception. If you are not an accomplished seamstress, use store-bought clothing as the base of your costume to significantly reduce the difficulty of this project. Sailor Jupiter is known for her physical strength and power to control lightning bolts and is identified by her green and pink costume.
Instructions
1. Purchase a solid green colored pleated skirt. Look for pleated skirts where school uniforms or cheer uniforms are sold.
2. Purchase a V-neck, short-sleeved white shirt to modify for your Sailor Jupiter costume. Keep in mind that you may not be able to use the shirt for normal everyday wear after alterations because you will be sewing items directly onto the shirt.
3. Cut two lengths of two to three inch wide pink ribbon approximately five feet long. These will form the large pink bows on the front and back of Sailor Jupiter's costume.
4. Form two large loops in the ribbon near the center approximately 12 inches apart. Cross the right loop over the left loop and the push the right loop behind the left loop and pull the right loop forward through the hole between the two loops and pull it tight. The process may sound confusing but it is similar to tying a bow in shoelaces. If you make a mistake, untie the ribbon and try again until you are satisfied with the appearance of your bow. Repeat the process to create two bows.
5. Hot glue a large, round green bead to the center of one pink bow with the holes in the bead facing up and down.
6. Sew the bow onto the bottom point of your shirt's V-neck through the holes in the bead. Make several passes through the bead and the shirt to hold the bow securely in place.
7. Sew the second bow to the center back of the skirts waistband with pink thread so that the stitching does not show.
8. Put on the shirt and measure from the center of the bow, around the back of your neck and back down to the center of the bow. Record this measurement to make the collar for your Sailor Jupiter costume.
9. Cut a piece of green felt into a rectangle approximately one foot by the measurement from step eight. Pin the rectangle onto the shirt with safety pins to create a collar that hangs down in the back to resemble a miniature cape. Trim the sides collar into the correct shape as necessary.
10. Cut a one inch wide strip of felt large enough to wear as a choker and safety pin the felt together at the back of your neck.
11. Sew a green felt band onto the top of a pair of store-bought white dress gloves.
