Making headbands is an easy, enjoyable craft. The best part is that the final product is something you can actually use. Headbands are wonderful, because they work with hair of any length, and they can be practical without sacrificing style. You can make your own headbands out of every-day craft items, and the whole process doesn't take very long. While you're at it, make one for every day of the week!
Instructions
1. Measure around your head from the nape of your neck, behind your ears and to the hairline. Cut a piece of fabric 3 inches wide and twice the measured length. Sew the fabric into a long tube, right sides together. Don't sew up the ends! Turn the tube right side out.
2. Make a scrunchie headband by cutting a piece of 1-inch wide elastic one inch longer than your head measurement. Thread the elastic through the tube and sew the ends together securely. Make sure the elastic isn't twisted! Fold one raw edge under, and tuck the other edge inside it. Sew ends closed securely.
3. Make a beaded headband by threading 1 smaller bead onto the tube of fabric, pushing it a couple of inches past the half-way point. Drop a large, round bead inside the tube. Thread another smaller bead on the fabric. Drop another round bead inside. Repeat until all beads are used. You will end with a smaller bead.
4. Tuck the raw edges under and sew them closed. Wear the headband by tying the ends under your hair at the nape of your neck.
