Make your own hair bows in just a few steps.
When making a bow for curly hair, it's important to design it, so it lays flat and won't become tangled in strands of curls. Because curly hair typically has more texture than straight hair, it can actually hold a bow in better, so you can use weightier clips or materials that would otherwise slide down fine, straight hair.
Instructions
1. Cut the bow to six and one-half times the length you want the finished product. When snipping, position scissors, so the cut will be at an angle.
2. Fold the ribbon into a third, leaving a small loop on one side and holding it in place with your thumb and pointing finger. Fold the longer side over again, leaving a second loop on the opposite side as the first.
3. Wrap the center of the bow tightly with craft wire to hold it in place.
4. Apply a dab of hot glue under the bow, and press on the open hair clip, so only the top of the clip is attached and the bottom can open freely. Hold firmly on the either side of the clip until it dries.
5. Add glue to the 3/8-inch ribbon and attach it to the center of the open clip. Wrap it tightly around the bow twice, so it hides the wire completely. Cut excess of the bow at the clip and glue the end down flat directly over the opposite end of the ribbon at the center of the open clip. Let dry.
