Big double layer boutique style hair bows are a stylish accessory. Create hair bows to secure pigtails, ponytails, to keep hair off the face or just to adorn hair. With the right supplies, you can make your own layered bow. Make a big double layer boutique style hair bow by securing stacked ribbons of different colors or patterns.
Instructions
1. Fold the 24-inch piece of ribbon in half, lengthwise. Cut the ends at a diagonal so that when the ribbon is unfolded, it is a v-shape. Using your lighter, heat the ends to prevent the ribbon from fraying. If you do not have a lighter available, use clear nail polish to coat the ends.
2. Measure 4 1/2 inches of your ribbon and fold. If your ribbon is not double-sided, the decorative side should be facing out. Fold the ribbon over itself three more times.
3. Pull the end of the ribbon out so they are on top of the looped ribbon. Pinch the middle of the bow together with your fingers. Secure it with an elastic thread.
4. Repeat the previous steps with the 15-inch piece of ribbon. However, the folds should be about 3 inches instead of 4 1/2 inches.
5. Place a dab of hot glue on the center of the larger bow. Attach the smaller bow to the top of the larger bow.
6. Wrap the 6-inch piece of ribbon around both bows. Tie a knot in the back of the bows. Cut excess ribbon off and secure the knot with hot glue.
