Hair bows can easily slide out of straight hair.
Hair bows are pretty fashion accessories that can be a real problem when they do not stay put. Fine, shiny hair can cause hair bows to lose their grip and slip out of place or droop. But with a few simple fixes, you can make your hair bows grip better and stay in place, keeping your style polished and clean.
Instructions
1. Sew a hair bow to a hair rubber band with a needle and some thread. Stretchy, thick hair elastics work best. Pull your hair up in your new hair rubber band, winding it tightly and adjusting the hair bow so that it stays on top.
2. Glue a hair bow onto a head band with plastic teeth on the underside. You can glue matching or contrasting ribbon onto the head band, but make sure you do not cover the plastic with ribbon or glue. The plastic teeth will grip your hair and keep the hair bow in place.
3. Put a drop of glue onto a plastic or metal barrette or hair clamp. The plastic barrette should have tiny plastic teeth on the underside. The metal barrette should have a tension bar on the underside. Hair clamps have large teeth and a spring to keep them in place. Tie a tight bow with fabric ribbon around the top of the barrette or on each side of the hair clamp, and let the glue dry. The plastic teeth, tension bar or spring will grip your hair, making the hair bow stay put.
4. Put your hair up in hair rubber bands. Thread a piece of ribbon through the underside of the hair rubber band and fashion your hair bow any way you like. The rubber band grips the bow from behind, preventing it from sliding.
5. Freshly washed and dried hair will make hair bows slip. Improve their grip on your hair by pinning them to damp hair, applying hair gel or hairspray before and after pinning. Let your hair dry with the hair bows in place.
