You can make a whimsical ladybug using ribbon.
A ladybug ribbon is a sweet accessory that can give an instant summer look to your hair. You can make this type of hair bow with a few materials, like some ribbons and an alligator clip. The result is a ribbon ladybug resting on a hair clip that you can then slide into your locks. This accessory also works well for little girls, and you can even allow kids to get involved in making the clip themselves.
Instructions
1. Cover the top and bottom of an alligator clip with green ribbon. An alligator clip is a type of hair clip that is long and opens at one end by pinning the opposite end. Glue the green ribbon in place, tucking the ends of the ribbon under the edges of the clip. Trim away excess ribbon with scissors.
2. Cut a piece of red ribbon to about 6 inches long. Use red ribbon that has black polka dots on it, or draw black dots onto plain red ribbon using a black marker.
3. Wrap the red ribbon into a loop, twisting the ribbon under itself to make a loop that is about 1-inch in circumference. Secure the ends of the ribbon in place with a dot of glue and let dry.
4. Glue the red ribbon loop to the center of the alligator top, to make the body of the ladybug.
5. Cut a 2-inch piece of black ribbon. Fold the ribbon into a small rectangle, about one-hafl inch wide. Glue the ends of the ribbon down to secure.
6. Glue the black rectangle ribbon above the glued down ladybug body, making a head. Let dry.
