Make your own handmade fancy hair bows using fabric scraps.
When you are organizing your child's wardrobe, you can end up spending a lot of money on fancy hair bows and hair accessories if you purchase them from a department store or specialty shop. One solution is to make your own fancy hair bows using scrap materials that you may have around your crafting area, such as puffy fabrics. This enables you to create beautifully ornate hair bows for your child, without breaking your budget.
Instructions
1. Cut a piece of puffy scrap fabric with scissors into a long rectangle that measures 3 inches wide, 10 inches long.
2. Stitch along one long edge of the rectangle using a basting stitch, then pull the stitch to cinch the edge.
3. Wind the cinched rectangle into a spiral, then sew the ends of the puffy fabric spiraled bow onto itself to secure it in place. Cut off the excess thread with scissors.
4. Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun, then plug in the hot glue gun to heat up for five minutes.
5. Squeeze a line of hot glue along the top of a metal hair clip, then press the bottom of the puffy fabric bow onto the hot glue-covered clip. Allow the hot glue to cool for two minutes.
6. Squeeze a pea-sized dollop of hot glue onto the center of the bow, then press a pom pom onto the hot glue dollop. Allow the hot glue to cool for two minutes before wearing the puffy fabric scrap bow.
