Laminated comic strips make whimsical hair bows.
Young girls love to wear hair bows to match their outfits and their moods. Sometimes it is hard to find unusual fabrics to match their every whim. They also like to lead their peers in fashions and accessories. Making a whimsical hair bow out of comic strips is easy to accomplish, with just a few items. You can get your child to join in the fun or host a birthday or slumber party where each girl makes her own zany, comic strip hair bow as a treat to take home after the party is over.
Instructions
1. Select a comic strip. This may be your child's favorite comic strip or one that has the right color scheme in it.
2. Using scissors, cut out a narrow strip of the comic. You may wish to have a long, narrow bow or a short, wide bow. Typically, the strip should be about 12 to 18 inches long.
3. Place the self-adhesive laminating strips on the bottom and top of the comic strip. Press the sheets together with the comic strip inside.
4. Cut out the laminating strip around the edges of the comic strip.
5. Glue the ends of the bow material into a circle, as suggested by the Cut Out and Keep website.
6. Press the bow together in the middle and glue it, holding it until it dries. This should take a couple of minutes.
7. Cut out a smaller strip to wrap around the bow in the middle. It needs to be 1 or 2 inches long. Laminate it and cut it out as you did the big piece.
8. Wrap the smaller strip around the center that you already glued together. Glue this section in place underneath the top of the circle. Leave the bottom portion of the small circle unglued so that the bobby pin can slip through it.
9. Push a bobby pin through the short section of the bow center and pin it in your hair.
