Attaching a bow to a barrette is a quick way to a get a boutique barrette at a fraction of the price.
Many girls and young women like to wear bows in their hair to add color and a "little something" to their 'do. Boutiques will attach satin hair bow to barrettes so that the bows stay in your hair securely without needing to be retied. Instead of spending the money on a boutique barrette, you can make one yourself. Not only will you save some money, but you can purchase ribbon to match any outfit you have.
Instructions
1. Apply a strip of fabric glue to the top of the barrette. Do not apply too much glue or it will can leave a glue stain on the ribbon. Just a thin strip of glue is needed.
2. Place the middle of the ribbon directly on top the glue; hold down the ribbon to adhere.
3. Allow the glue to dry and adhere for four hours before completely the project.
4. Pull up both ends of the ribbon (the right side will be referred to "A" and the left side "B") and crisscross them so that side B is over side A.
5. Pull side A over on top of side B, and then loop it under. Hold the ribbons in that position (B will be facing upward and A downward).
6. Fold A into a loop and hold it. Twist B around the loop, and pull B through the back of the bow. The bow is now formed.
7. Pull on the loops to tighten the bow.
8. Clip the barrette into the hair.
