Ribbon can be bought at most craft or hobby stores.
Making a ribbon bow and placing it on a gift you are wrapping can be the perfect finishing touch. Buying bows in the store can be expensive if you have many gifts to wrap. You can save a lot of money by buying your own ribbon and learning craft your own curly ribbon bow. This way you can choose the color ribbon you prefer and match it to your wrapping paper to make your gifts look like they were wrapped by a professional.
Instructions
1. Purchase serrated curling ribbon at a craft store. Wrap it loosely around your gift box six times and cut the ribbon. Slide the ribbon off of the box while holding it looped together.
2. Cut a small length of ribbon about 4 inches long. Bunch the wound-up ribbon in the center and tie it together using your small piece of ribbon.
3. Cut the ribbons at the tips of both ends of the wound-up ribbon to make individual strands of ribbon.
4. Grip the middle of your bundle of ribbon with your index finger and thumb. Scrape the sharp edge of your scissors along each piece of ribbon from the end closest to your thumb and working your way out. This curls each piece of your ribbon nicely.
5. Repeat each step the desired number of times to create more curled bundles. The amount of bundles needed depends on the size of your gift box. If you have a bigger size box, you will want enough bundles to make a nice size bow. You only need a few bundles for smaller gift boxes.
6. Take your finished bundles and stack them on your gift box to make a big bow. Tape the bundles down to the box to secure them in place.
