Crinkle ribbons can be used to make handmade bows.
When you are organizing a child's outfit for a special occasion such as a birthday party or recital, you can make the outfit more memorable by adding a crinkle-ribbon bow that matches the outfit. Although you can buy fancy hair bows from a department store, they can be very costly. You can make your own crinkle ribbon hair bows at home using a few basic materials.
Instructions
1. Cut 12 pieces of ribbon into eight-inch sections.
2. Fold each piece of ribbon back and forth, accordion style, making each fold about a half-inch long.
3. Press the folded ribbon firmly with pliers and hold for one minute. When you release the pliers, the ribbon will be crinkled. Repeat this process with each ribbon section.
4. Place the crinkled ribbons into a stack, then tie the stacked ribbons at their centers into a bow.
5. Heat up a glue gun for five minutes.
6. Squeeze a dollop of hot glue onto the top of a metal barrette.
7. Press the crinkled bow onto the hot glue, and hold it into place until the hot glue cools and hardens, which can take about two minutes. You can now use the crinkle ribbon bow for your child's hair.
