Planning to make a money bag may seem greedy, but the whole reason for a money bag is lighthearted, as the bride can request "payment" for a dance, anything from $1 to whatever the dance partner is willing to tuck into the money bag. At some point in the evening, the bride can relinquish the bag to a supervised gift table for guests to put in cards and well wishes.
Instructions
1. Start by purchasing all of the components to make your bag. Find a satin bag, preferably with a sewn-in drawstring, or make one from material and cording. The bag should be able to fit cards but small enough for the bride to keep attached to her wrist. The color can be white, cream or one of the wedding colors. Then, purchase silk ribbon. To dress up the bag, find a few wedding-themed charms, such as a small bride and groom, a heart or a miniature bouquet.
2. After you get all of the necessary supplies home, decide if you want the bag to include a monogram. If you do, take it to a craft store, seamstress, family member or friend to stitch on the letters. Select the font and the color of the thread that best matches your bag.
3. After you receive your newly monogrammed bag, attach the charms to the ends of each drawstring so that they will dangle in the front. You can tie the drawstring around each charm or use some of your ribbon to secure each one.
4. Last, cut off a piece of ribbon and tie a beautiful small bow. Then, attach the bow to the bag above the monogram and just below the drawstring with a few stitches.
