Make an adjustable ribbon halo with elastic cord and ribbons.
Ribbon halos are like full circle tiaras worn on the top of the head and usually constructed out of wire with ribbons and flowers. Ribbon halos are often found at renaissance fairs or part of princess and fairy pretend play. To construct an adjustable ribbon halo, use an elastic cord instead of wire. An elastic cord can be found at fabric or jewelry-making stores. Around the cord, you can add plastic lei flowers that are open in the center. Tie on ribbons and you are ready for fairy play.
Instructions
1. Plastic lei flowers have a hole in the center for stringing.
String a lei flower onto the elastic cord. Plastic lei flowers have a hole in the center. Push the cord through the hole and add more flowers until the cord is full of flowers.
2. Knot the two ends of the elastic cord with a double knot. This will be the halo part that goes on top of the child's head. It is stretchy so it should fit most heads.
3. Cut the ribbon with scissors so you have three pieces that are 60 inches long each.
4. Fold the ribbon in half around the knot of the elastic cord and tie a knot tightly. Repeat with the other ribbons so that they flow from the halo and secure the knot of the elastic cord.
5. Place the halo on the child, and cut the ribbon if it is too long.
