Easy Instructions On Create A Twisted Hair Bow

Add color and style to your hairdo with a twisted bow.

Twisted hair bows accessorize your look and can adorn a number of hair styles such as hair that is partially pulled back, ponytails or braids. Choose ribbon in various patterns or colors to match a dance or gymnastics leotard, a cheerleading outfit or other articles of clothing in your wardrobe to complete your look. You can create a twisted hair bow out of either wide or narrow ribbon within minutes. Homemade twisted hair bows offer a budget-friendly craft project and gift.

Instructions

1. Cut one 18-inch piece of solid-colored ribbon and one 18-inch piece of patterned ribbon to create a medium-sized, double-layered twisted hair bow.

2. Lay the ribbon flat so that the back side of the ribbon is facing you.

3. Make a loop with the ribbon. Twist the loop so that the exterior or patterned side shows. Create three more loops. Twist each of the loops.

4. Twist and tighten craft wire around the back center of the bow, where the bottom of the loops meet, to hold the loops together.

5. Follow Steps 2 through 4 to twist the second layer of ribbon. You should have two separate bows with four loops in each bow.

6. Place the patterned bow on top of the solid-colored bow. Put wire around the front center of the bows, twisting the wire together at the back center to hold the bows together. Clip excess wire using your scissors

7. Glue a piece of ribbon around the exterior and interior of the clip with hot glue or super glue. This step is optional.

8. Put a dab of hot or super glue onto the center of the clip. Press your bow onto the clip so that it sticks.

9. Cut a piece of solid ribbon to wrap around the wire in the center of the bows and the bottom interior part of the clips, so that the wire is no longer visible, and the bow and clip are reinforced. Secure this center piece of ribbon around the middle of the bows and clip using hot or super glue.

10. Trim the ends of your ribbon. Apply heat using a lighter to the ends of the ribbon to prevent fraying.
