Make an outfit especially to suit your little girl for her next costume party.
Every year parents find themselves searching for their child's ideal Halloween costume. Often, they feel pressed for time to come up with a successful idea. Choosing may seem difficult with the many costume possibilities available. However, many costumes can be made from items around the house. Cute costume options for little girls abound. With some work, you can create just the right costume for a little girl.
Instructions
1. A princess costume requires only a dress, cape and crown.
Recycle items you already own to make a costume. Look through your closets to spark some ideas. A lacy dress can become a princess's gown or a dress for the Tooth Fairy. A pair of pajamas can be used to dress as a baby, or use a robe and towel on the head to dress as a teenager at a slumber party.
2. For a nurse costume, combine a white outfit with a cap and stethoscope.
Think about what accessories you have or can easily make or buy. A child can wear white clothes for a nurse costume; add the accessories of a nurse's hat, stethoscope and clipboard to make it complete. Add a wand, wings and tutu to a bodysuit for an instant fairy.
3. Try sewing a cat costume using a pattern, or attach ears and a tail to a shirt and pants.
Create a costume using what you assemble. Some costumes can be sewn or altered from other items. You can make a bunny rabbit, piglet or cat costume quickly. Adding ears to a headband and pinning on a tail transforms a matching pants-and-shirt combination into an animal costume.
4. Think outside the box for a one-of-a-kind costume.
Make a costume that represents a clever play on words. For example, for "raining cats and dogs," you can have the little girl carry an umbrella with toy cats and dogs attached while wearing a raincoat. For another costume option, fit a duck pool float around the girl's waist and tape white balloons all over to represent bubbles; she becomes a rubber duck in the bath.
