Sometimes, no matter what people try, their clothes harbor static cling. When this happens, a person's clothes tend to cling to her body -- just as a balloon can stick to the wall. When one fabric rubs against another for a long time, an exchange of electrons occurs, creating an electrical charge. The result is static electricity that holds objects together. Fortunately, some common household products can eliminate static cling.
Instructions
Hand Lotion
1. Get a small tube of hand lotion or hand cream and go someplace that is private.
2. Lift the clothing that is clinging. Apply the hand cream or lotion to your body. If you're wearing nylons or other garments, put the hand cream or lotion right on top of those garments. Only use a small amount at a time.
3. Let your clothing return to its normal position.
Hair Spray
4. Get a small can or spritzer of hair spray and go someplace private.
5. Lift the dress, skirt or blouse that is clinging to you. Spray the insides of it and your body with hairspray. Wait a minute or two for the hairspray to dry.
6. Let your clothes fall back to a normal position.
Dryer Sheets
7. Place clean, damp clothes in the dryer.
8. Add one piece of a fabric-softener type of dryer sheet to the dryer.
9. Turn on the dryer. The clothing should be cling-free at the end of the cycle.
