Hair bow made from ribbon
Hair bows can be a challenge to store, especially if they are covered with beaded ribbons, feathers and other material that should not be squashed. Store and display hair bows so that each one is separate to avoid misshapen ribbons and other components. With the right type of display, you can see all of the bows at one glance and easily make a selection for a particular outfit or occasion.
Instructions
1. Measure and cut a length of 2-inch-wide ribbon that is 2 inches longer than the desired length of the hair bow display. You can hang the vertical ribbon display on the back of a door, on the wall or from the ceiling.
2. Thread a needle with 10 inches of thread, double the thread and knot it at the end.
3. Fold 2 inches of one end of the ribbon strand over to the back side. Stitch the 2-inch loop from back to front with an up-and-down stitch. You are creating a loop so you can hang the ribbon display.
4. Measure and cut a 6-inch length of 1/4-inch-wide ribbon. Insert the ribbon halfway through the loop on the 2-inch-wide ribbon strand. Tie the 1/4-inch-wide ribbon into a bow or a knot at the top to make a hanger for the hair bow display.
5. Stretch the 2-inch-wide ribbon strand onto a flat work surface, front side up. Measure and mark 3-inch increments along the length of the strand.
6. Glue a button onto each mark with hot glue. Stitching the buttons in place is also an option, but hot glue is faster and works just as well for this project. The buttons will keep the hair bows from sliding down the display ribbon. They also add a decorative touch to the display. Your hair bows may need to be spaced more or less than 3 inches apart. Place the buttons along the strand to suit the size of your hair bows.
7. Hang the ribbon display from a hook or nail in the wall, door or ceiling. Clip the hair bows over the ribbon above each button.
