Make Loops in Pew Bows
Pew bows are an easy and inexpensive way to add a lot of style and beauty to a church wedding ceremony. Pew bows, which are fastened to the end of church pews or a row of chairs, are simple to make and can be customized to match virtually any wedding color scheme or decor. Brides can save money by learning to make their own pew bows from yards of bulk ribbon, rather than pay for pre-made pew bows. An elegant design for pew bows is the looped bow, which creates a big impact and is simple to create.
Instructions
1. Measure out 3 yards of ribbons and cut, which will give you about six loops and approximately 12 inch tails, which will hang past the looped part of bow.
2. Grasp one end of ribbon about 8 inches from the end between your thumb and forefinger.
3. Create a small loop, about 3 inches long, for the bow's center and hold securely. Use this center loop to camouflage the wire or twist tie that will later be used to hold bow loops together.
4. Pinch ribbon and twist 180 degrees and slide under index finger. Create a 5-inch loop and pinch the ribbon again, twisting 180 degrees and slide under index finger.
5. Repeat process on other side, creating another 5-inch loop. Keep using fingers to hold loops securely.
6. Repeat process until you create six loops on each side of the center of bow.
7. Thread a wire or twist tie through the center loop and twist extremely tightly. Using fingers, fluff and arrange loops into position.
8. Trim the ends of each tail, using either slant cut or cut them to look like a "V," depending on the style you prefer.
