A ponytail holder made with fake hair creates the illusion of having wrapped your elastic band with a section of your own hair. Taking care of your ponytail holder by washing it regularly extends the life of the accessory and keeps it looking good. Dirty hair, humid conditions, heavy air pollution and general soiling are conditions that contribute to how often your ponytail holder needs to be washed. In general, clean it after about 15 uses -- or more often if you frequently apply hairspray once it's in place.
Instructions
1. Mix about 1/4 cup of shampoo in a sink or large bowl filled with cool water. Avoid using hot water, which could damage the ponytail holder.
2. Immerse the ponytail holder in the water. Make sure it is completely covered with water, and allow it to soak for 2 minutes.
3. Agitate the water surrounding the ponytail holder, using your hands. Gently move it back and forth in the water, to loosen any products that have built up on it.
4. Rinse the ponytail holder thoroughly, in cold water, until all shampoo is removed.
5. Dry the ponytail holder with a towel. Gently squeeze or blot the excess water out of the hairpiece with a towel. Avoid wringing the ponytail holder, to preserve the style and prevent tearing out pieces of hair. Hang the hairpiece on a towel hook or similar place until it is completely dry.
