A star-shaped bow can be crafted in minutes from strips of paper.
Paper bows are an ideal craft for those last-minute gift wrappers who might not have time to run to the store for supplies. These bows perfectly resemble their shiny, store-bought counterparts and can be crafted from little more than a sheet of paper. Easily assembled, these bows can be put together in a matter of minutes and provide a great use for old newspapers, magazines or scraps of paper that would otherwise be discarded.
Instructions
1. Cut the sheet into nine 3/4-inch wide strips, moving lengthwise down the page from top to bottom.
2. Leave three strips at their normal length. Cut one inch from three of the strips and two inches from two of the strips. Cut the last strip down to 3 1/2 inches.
3. Set the smallest strip aside. Loop the ends of the remaining strips by laying the strands flat and twisting the tips of the strips down along the sides and towards the middle, stapling the ends in place. This will leave you with outward-facing, pointed curls, one on each end of the strips.
4. Start with the longest strips first. Lay the first strip vertically on the work surface. Layer the other two strips on top of the first so that they form an "X" and staple them in the middle to hold them in place. The strips should now resemble a star in design with the curls forming the points of the star.
5. Lay the second-longest group of strips on top of the first, crossing the first two into an "X" with the last strand crossing the "X." Staple the strips into place. The strips should now look like two stars laid on top of one another with the points of the second star positioned between the points of the first.
6. Curl the 3 1/2-inch strip into a circle and place it in the center of the star, with the loop facing up, to finish the bow.
