Flower-patterned hair accessories are well loved by girls of all ages.
Hair accessories, like barrettes or clips are usually very popular with women and young girls. Flowers or flower designs seem to never go out of style and are worn by females from infancy through adulthood. Hair accessories, like any other trendy item can get expensive over time, or occasionally someone may not be able to find a flower patterned clip that goes with the outfit they are wearing. Just like the majority of other hair accessories, flower-patterned clips are inexpensive to make at home with minimal materials and some know how.
Instructions
1. Unfold and lay the floral-patterned fabric wrong-side up on a table or other work area.
2. Use the bottom of the juice glass as a pattern and trace six circles on the wrong side of the fabric with the marking pen.
3. Cut out the six circles with the scissors.
4. Fold each circle in half so that the right side is now showing, and then fold in half again.
5. Iron over each of the folded circles to keep them from unfolding.
6. Put all six circles that are now folded and ironed into a circle on the table with the pointed tips touching.
7. Tuck the edge of each folded circle slightly inside the fold of the circle next to it and pin each one in place as you go.
8. Roll the circle, that by now resembles a small flower, over, so the convex side is pointing upward. Thread a needle with about 1 foot of thread.
9. Cut a small strip of felt, 1 inch by 1/2 inch. Put this felt strip on the back side of the flower, center it and secure it with a few stitches, securing all the petals to the felt.
10. Use your contrast fabric to make a fabric covered button that will go in the center of your flower, by following the directions on the back of the button package. Most buttons will direct you to lay the button down on the fabric and to cut a piece of fabric 1 1/2 times the size of the button. Once cut, put a dab of glue on the button form, center the fabric over it and allow it to dry. Once dry it will be simple to fold all the edges up and under the button and then seal the edges by sliding the button bottom into place, sealing all of the edges.
11. Put the button on the center of the flower and sew it into place from behind the flower so the stitching cannot be seen.
12. Cut a length of grosgrain ribbon the same size as the top of the barrette or clip. Hot glue the ribbon to the clip or barrette.
13. Squeeze hot glue to the top of the grosgrain ribbon on the plain clip or barrette and secure the flower. Allow the glue to dry completely before attempting to wear the flower pattern hair clip.
