Even a baby with little hair can wear a stick-on bow.
A baby girl arriving with little to no hair may present a challenge when you wish to adorn her head in ribbons and bows. When your daughter has too little hair for bows, make a stick-on bow for an infant. If you can tie your shoes, you can make simple hair bows for little babies. Bow-makers have secrets for making bows stick to little heads. Once you know the tricks, your bows will stay on until you take them off.
Instructions
1. Cut an 8-inch length of ribbon. Hold the ribbon in one hand, and make a loop about 2 1/2 inches from the right end of the ribbon. Tie the ribbon into a simple bow.
2. Tighten the bow, and adjust the loops to make them the same size. Strive to make the loops about 3/4 inch long.
3. Place a dot of craft glue on the back of the knot to secure it. Allow the glue to dry completely before proceeding.
4. Trim the tails of the bow off to make them about 1 inch long. Cut the tails at a 45-degree angle, and then apply a line of seam sealant over the raw edges to prevent fraying.
5. Determine the spot on the baby's head where you wish to place the bow. Apply a dot of surgical lubricant, hair gel or corn syrup to the back of the bow.
6. Press the bow onto the baby's head. The lubricant, hair gel or corn syrup will dry and hold the bow in place.
7. Apply a small amount of warm water over the baby's head between the head and the bow when you wish to remove it. Pull the bow off the head after the water dissolves the adhesive ingredient.
8. Wipe the back of the bow gently with a cleaning cloth to remove any remaining residue, and set the bow out with the backside facing up. Allow the bow to dry before putting it away.
