Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Birthday Party Ideas
For decades, young boys and girls have been intrigued and delighted by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT). These crime-fighting, chemically-altered turtles who work under the direction of a wise rat enjoy beating the bad guys and eating pizza in their sewer home. Both pre-school and elementary school-aged children will enjoy celebrating their birthday with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed birthday party.
Decorations
The four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles each wear a different colored mask. These colors are red, blue, purple and orange. Use these colors when selecting streamers, balloons and paper products. Many retailers sell TMNT-themed decorations that can be used as well. Commercial decorations include table covers, plates, cups, napkins, centerpieces and balloons. To save money, parents can make their own decorations using construction paper or craft foam to make replicas of the four Ninja turtles. Also, plain green plates can be transformed into turtles with some glue, a few pieces of foam or construction paper, and some googly eyes (see Resources). For fun, serve snacks and cake on the turtle plates.
Food
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles love pizza. Thus, pizza should be served at any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party. Also, serve green punch to resemble the green ooze in the TMNT story line. To make green punch, combine ginger ale, frozen lemonade concentrate and pineapple juice, and top with lime sherbet.
Order a custom cake from your local bakery, or make a cake using a TMNT theme. Consider using a cake pan in the shape of one of the TMNT's heads or using a TMNT decorating kit to decorate a basic rectangle cake.
Activities
Go on a hunt for manholes that lead back to the turtles' sewer home. Create manhole covers out of cardboard and silver paint. Hide these manhole covers throughout the party area, and challenge guests to find as many as they can.
Allow guests to make their own turtle headband from colored felt or fleece. Play freeze tag, with one child being Shredder and all the others being Ninja Turtles.
