Vendor fairs are an excellent way to get your name or business name out into the community and show people what you have to offer. Most vendor fairs consist of both inside and outside booth rentals; however, during the warmer months outdoors is the ideal place to set your station because of passing patrons enjoying the weather. Entice those customers to your spot with shade, easy accessibility and attractive decorations.
Instructions
1. Talk with the event coordinator to find out the earliest time to set up the booth. Depending on the type of show, outdoor vendors may be allowed to set up as early as the night before the event. Morning setup may be chaotic because there will be several other booths setting up also. In addition, you may forget something important for the booth, such as a tent cover or tie-downs.
2. Set up the tent and the sides of the tent, if available. The sides of the tent will protect any interior items from the sun, rain and wind.
3. Arrange tables and display shelving inside the tent. Avoid placing any tables or shelving outside the tent; however, items that are for sale that can lie against the tent or stand alone items can be placed just outside the entrance to your booth. Set up two or three chairs inside the tent for you and your helper to rest during a slow period.
4. Place tablecloths over the tables to give the tables a finished look. Tablecloths are made from fabric or vinyl and come in a variety of colors and sizes. Choose a cloth that reaches from side to side and to the floor in the front and back of the table. This allows you to store personal belongs and items for sale under the table so that customers cannot see them.
5. Hang a sign outside the front of your tent to let customers know who you are and where you are located. Many vendor shows have maps with the names and locations of booths. The sign will help direct people to your booth. Choose a sign that is bright and clearly states the name of your company. Signs can be made professionally or handmade depending on your artistic ability. Simple, bold lettering works well for display.
6. Attach balloons to the sides of the tent to help attract customers. Coordinate the colors of the booth with your sign and table cloth colors. In addition, choose balloon colors that are bright and vivid.
