You don't need to be a little girl to wear a hair bow anymore, nor do they need to be restricted to only being worn in your hair. Hair bows are a classic accessory and are very versatile. Girls and women of all ages are incorporating them in their outfits and are wearing them on jewelry, clothing and purses.
Hairbow Ideas
There are many crafty and trendy things you can do with hair bows. All you need is a needle and thread or a hot glue gun, some hair bows of different colors and designs and the clothing, jewelry or other accessories that you'd like to decorate. Purchase hair bows at craft shops, or the craft aisle at your local department store. If you are on a budget you can try looking through yard sales or thrift shops for anything with bows on them and use a seam-ripper to detach them.
If you do indeed want to wear the hair bows in your hair, attach them with a hot glue gun to the top of an alligator clip a snap clip or a headband. You can even glue one to an elastic hair tie, or run a few stitches through the bottom of the bow to attach it.
If you have a small hair bow, glue it to the top of a plain ring, or on the front of a plain flat pendant on a necklace. Look for these jewelry items where crafts are sold. The plain metal rings that you can get out of a gumball machine would work well for a project like this.
Decorate a coat, T-shirt, purse or backpack by stitching the bottom of a hair bow to the surface fabric of these items. For a different look, sew one or two to the sides of your socks or attach them to the tops of your shoes. Just make sure that when you are sewing or gluing them to something that they are straight.
Decorate the hair bow itself by gluing or sewing a string of beads or a small piece of chain to the bottom of the hair bow. Sew pieces of lace to the bow that hang down. Glue or sew a button or even a bottle cap to the center of the hair bow.
