Boutique bows are a simple, attractive fashion accessory for children.
A children's boutique bow is a hair accessory that many young girls enjoy, and can add flair to any outfit. The best part is you can use various ribbons with different styles and colors to match nearly any outfit. Follow these six steps to create a boutique bow in a matter of minutes.
Instructions
1. Fold the ribbon in half and make a crease directly in the middle. This will make both of the loops of the boutique bow the same size.
2. Unfold the ribbon. Make a loop by placing one end of the ribbon on the center crease without flipping it. Make another loop by placing the other end of the ribbon on the center crease without flipping it. Both loops will be triangular and resemble the loops found on awareness ribbons, such as the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon.
3. Place the center of one triangle end over the center crease. Hold this down with one finger while placing the center of the opposite triangle end over the same area. At this point you will have the bow design.
4. Hold the bow in place and secure it with a salon clip or alligator clip.
5. Tie a small piece of thread, approximately two to three inches long, around the center of the bow twice. Secure the knots to avoid the ribbon slipping out later on. If the knots aren't secure, tie an additional knot.
6. Cut off excess thread with your scissors and your boutique bow is complete.
