Baby Hair Bow Instructions

Baby hair bows look adorable in pictures and on special occasions.

Baby girls look adorable when they are wearing coordinating hair bows that match their outfits. Sometimes adding a hair bow is the only way to keep people from telling you how handsome your little "boy" is. Unfortunately, baby bows can be quite expensive and are tiny, so they are easily lost. You can make your own homemade bows with inexpensive supplies. They only take a few minutes to complete, and are excellent for personal use, or as baby shower gifts.

Instructions

1. Thread your sewing needle with about 12 inches of thread and tie the end into a knot.

2. Hold the ribbon and gather it into a rosette shape with your fingers. To create the rosette shape, gather the ribbon into tiny folds and then bring the two ends together in a circle shape.

3. Place the gathered rosette into your non-dominant hand.

4. Hold the ribbon securely while you place the decorative button on top and hold it with your non-dominant thumb.

5. Secure the button by placing the needle and thread underneath the bow with your dominant hand. Bring the needle to the top of the hole in the button and pull the thread through until the knot stops the action.

6. Place the needle into the second hole in the button and push it downward, pulling the thread through again. Repeat this method a couple of times, alternating the thread going down and up through the buttonholes until the ribbon rosette is secure.

7. Attach an infant clip barrette at this time by sewing it onto the finished rosette and button. You can go around the top of the prong a couple of times to attach it. This will prevent the baby from loosening the bow and button from the barrette.

8. Finish the baby hair bow by tying the thread into a knot near the metal clip barrette.

9. Cut the thread, and you are ready to place the baby bow in your little girl's hair.
