A hump adds volume to your hair.
A hump is a teased section of hair that is pushed up to add height to your hair. Adding a hump to your hair is a fast way to try a new look or to change your hairstyle. A hump can be created with a small section of hair to use in a ponytail or a loose hairstyle. A hump can also be incorporated as part of an evening updo. Creating a hump in your hair takes only about 10 minutes.
Instructions
1. Separate a 2-to-3-inch section of hair above the middle of your forehead at the front of your hair.
2. Pull the section of hair straight up and away from your head.
3. Tease the back of the section of hair by pushing a fine-tooth comb down the back of the section towards your scalp to slightly tangle the hair.
4. Spray the back of the section of hair with hairspray.
5. Pull the section of hair back and smooth the front with a brush.
6. Grab the section of hair at the middle of its length, twist the section of hair half a turn, and push forward to make a hump. You may push more or less to create a hump the size you prefer.
7. Pin the section of hair to your head securely with bobby pins. Use at least 2 bobby pins crossed to make an "X." Shake your head gently to test the bobby pins. The hump should not move.
8. Spray the hump with hairspray and use your hands to smooth any stray hairs.
