A heart craft can be made of lace.
A lace heart craft is an ideal project to get you ready for Valentine's Day. Lace heart projects can be used to create decorations for a party, a gift for a friend or a special card for a loved one. You can even get little ones involved, helping them to make a lace heart craft to give to their school mates.
Paper Doily Garland
You can use a stack of paper doilies to make a decorative garland. Cut out a heart shape from a few dozen lace doilies and glue the sides together, making a garland. Make a crease at each glued edge so that the garland has a ruffled pattern to it and doesn't hang in a straight line. The paper garland can be hung over a door or from a buffet table full of treats.
Valentine Card
You can make a simple Valentine's Day card with a ruffled heart applique. Cut out a pink heart from a piece of craft paper. Take a strand of lace and glue it around the edge of the heart. Every few inches, pinch the lace so that it becomes ruffled. Then, glue the heart to the front of a blank card and write a message inside the card.
Heart Bowl
Cut out a large red heart from a piece of construction paper, then glue a piece of ruffled lace trim around the edge. Lay a red ceramic bowl on the center of the paper heart, upside down, so the top lip of the bowl touches the paper. Trace the outline of the bowl and then cut out the circle from the paper. You can then slip the paper heart over the rim of the bowl. Use a line of glue under the paper to keep it snug around the bowl. Then you have a bowl to hold candy or jewelry.
Hair Bow
Make a charming hair bow for a child by cutting out a small paper heart from craft paper. Glue some ruffled lace around the edge of the heart and then glue the heart to the top of a plastic hair clip. You can also attach the heart to a hair tie or scrunchie for older girls. To make the heart decal more durable, coat it with a thin layer of Mod Podge or polyurethane and then let it dry.
